More information: "Hell has indeed frozen over. An actual Frost* live film. It was Thursday November 30th 2022. We took to the stage at the Komedia in Bath, our first UK tour since Dingwalls in 2017. We had our ever-patient compadre Rob Reed and his troupe of cheerful professionals in tow and not only did they have a load of top-of-the-range cameras with them, they had the talent and expertise to make us look presentable. We were determined to succeed and well…we only went and bloody did it, didn’t we? What we have here is that very film, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it." (Jem Godfrey).
Line-up: Jem Godfrey - Vocals, Keyboards / John Mitchell - Vocals, Guitar / Nathan King - Vocals, Bass / Craig Blundell - Drums
Frost was formed in 2004 by keyboard player and singer Jem Godfrey, Released in 2006 the band’s debut album ‘Milliontown’ was an instant success and is regarded by many as a classic in the modern prog rock genre featuring John Mitchell on guitar, John Jowitt on bass and Andy Edwards on drums.
The band quickly followed it up with ‘Experiments In Mass Appeal’ in 2008, in many ways the antithesis of ‘Milliontown’ featuring a much more stripped back sound, more concise songs and a new band member and singer in the form of Dec Burke. Divisive at the time, the album nonetheless received a lot of airplay on the college rock stations in the United States and helped the band become noticed by bands like Dream Theater who subsequently offered Frost a UK support tour.
The live album ‘The Philadelphia Experiment’ followed in 2009 recorded at the Keswick theatre in Philadelphia. There then followed a period of inactivity before the third album ‘Falling Satellites’ was released in 2016 with a new line-up of Nathan King on bass and Craig Blundell on drums.
In September 2019 Godfrey and Mitchell rented a cottage for a week in Helford, Cornwall and set about converting it into a makeshift recording studio. Over the course of the next 6 days, they wrote the majority of what would become Frost’s fourth album ‘Day And Age’ which was released in May 2021 and went straight to number 2 in the Rock charts.
Post pandemic the band took to the stage for a 5 date tour of the UK in 2022 and filmed the fourth show at Bath Komedia for Blu-ray release (now deleted) in June 2023, and now a DVD release in 2024.
