More information: Rain is comprised of Andy Edwards and John Jowitt (formerly drums and bass with IQ and Frost*, amongst many others), together with Rob Groucutt (keys and vocals) and Mirron (guitar and vocals, formerly of Hey Jester).

John Jowitt: “The writing and recording of the album could not have been more different to its predecessor, ‘Singularly’, released in 2020. Whilst that album was a result of lockdown isolation, Radio Silence was written through collaboration, with many of the backing tracks recorded live at Mark Westwood’s state of the art studio in Worcestershire. Radio Silence sees Rain confidently expanding the sound developed on Singularity; heavier and punchier, but keeping the signature jazz and funk elements, with lead vocals from Rob, Mirron and now me.”

Andy Edwards: “This album has really been a labour of love. I knew we needed to surpass the first release and thanks to the expanded production palette supplied by Mark in his incredible studio, and the experience of finally getting out and playing live together, I think we have created some of the best songs I have ever been involved in in my career in prog. This collection of tunes really takes you to some wonderful places. I’m very proud of this one and cannot wait to get these songs out there.”

Mirron: “Part of the ethos of Radio Silence is about having optimism as we all jump into a crazy decade post lockdown. When we released Singularity we hadn’t even all met in the same room; that experience of working together as performers allowed our creative personalities to shine more on this album. There is also a new intensity; the bright songs brighter, and the dark songs darker.”

So Radio Silence is about to be broken; strap yourself in for a multi colour prog exploration, and expect the unexpected!
